Rochester 77, Case 60

CLEVELAND, OH - Case Western Reserve University (3-13, 1-4 UAA) fell 77-60 to the University of Rochester (16-0, 5-0 UAA), who is currently ranked second in the nation (Div. III), today at Horsburgh Gymnasium in the Veale Center. Spartan sophomore guard Funso Lafe (Chesterland, OH) led Case with 20 points.
Rochester took a 34-32 lead into the locker room at halftime. Case was led at the half by Carson Oren's eight points and nine rebounds while the Yellow Jackets were led by Andy Larkin with six points and six rebounds. The rebounds were even at 18 apiece as were they turnovers with both teams having five each. The edge for the Yellow Jackets came from the field as Rochester shot 40.6% (13-32) from the floor compared to 37% (10-27) for the Spartans.
The game remained close in the second half until the 11:20 mark (49-45 Rochester), from there Rochester would go on to outscore Case 28-15 to remain undefeated. The Yellowjackets did so by shooting 60 percent (12-20) from the field in the last 20 minutes as the Spartan only hit 36.4 (12-23). Rochester also out rebounded Case 19-13 in the half. Funso Lafe scored 13 of his 20 in the last 20 minutes.
Spartan sophomore forward Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) had a team high 11 rebounds and 13 points. The Yellowjackets, who had four players in double digits, were led by junior guard Ryan Mee's (Hilton, NY) 20 points. Senior forward Andy Larkin (Cincinnati, OH) had a game high 12 rebounds for the visitors.
Case host Brandeis University this Friday at 8:00 p.m.
