Case 87, Grove City 54
CLEVELAND, OH - Case Western Reserve University (2-5) had six players score in double digits tonight led by sophomore guard Carson Oren's (South Bend, IN) 17 as the Spartans defeated Grove City College (2-3) 87-54 at home. Oren added a game high eight rebounds.
Oren scored 14 of his 17 in the first 20 minutes as Case led by 20, 47-27, at the intermission. The Spartans forced 14 Wolverine turnovers in the first half as they shot 57.1% (20-35) from the field. Case sophomore guard Funso Lafe (Chesterland, OH), a Hawken graduate, also scored 14 of his 15 total points in the 20 minutes.
The Spartans out rebounded the Wolverines 26 to 16 in the second half (37-33 in the game) and continued to shoot well (14-34 - 41.2%). Case freshman guard Matt Cannan (Dublin, OH) scored 14 points in his first start at the college level. Junior forward Ryan Eller (Erie, PA) led Grove City with 17 points.
The Spartans do not play again until December 30, when they travel to Wittenberg University.
