John Carroll 94, Case 74
CLEVELAND, OH – Case Western Reserve University (0-4) sophomore guard Richard Mullen (Columbus, OH) scored a game high 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first round of the Cleveland Cage Classic tonight as the Spartans fell to host John Carroll University (3-0) 74-94.
Mullen had 16 of his 22 and Spartan sophomore guard Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) added 10 of his game total 14 in the first half as Case only trailed by three at the break 37-40.
In the second half the Spartans continued to score, hitting on 12 of 19 shots (63.2%) from the field, but turn the ball over 22 times (32 in game) in the last 20 minutes to drop their fourth straight.
John Carroll, who won their third straight, had five players score in double digits led by David Gibbons and Jerry Angel, who had 16 points a piece.
Case will face local Hiram College tomorrow at John Carroll in the consolation game at 3:00 p.m.
