Mount Union 81, Case 66
ALLIANCE, OH - Case Western Reserve University (0-1) sophomore guard Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) scored a game high 28 points as the Spartans lost 81-66 to Mount Union College (1-0) in the first night of the Mount Union Tip-Off Tournament.
Oren was 5 of 9 from the field, scoring 12 points in the first half as Case trailed 29-37. The Spartans shot poorly from the field (10-26, 38.5%) in the second half as they fell in their season opener.
Spartan sophomore guard Funso Lafe (Chesterland, OH) scored 20 points and grabbed a team high 9 rebounds in his Case debut. Lafe, a Hawken graduate transferred to Case this past summer after playing a year at George Washington. Tonight's game also marked the first for Spartan Head Coach Sean McDonnell.
Case will face Chowan College (NC), who lost to Madonna University (MI) earlier, tomorrow in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m.
