2008 UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 20, 2008) - Case Western Reserve University senior Esther Erb (Richmond, VA-pictured) won two University Athletic Association (UAA) individual championships in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs today at the 2008 UAA Championships hosted by the University of Chicago.
Erb finished the 1,500-meter in a time of 4:48.13 and the 5,000-meter in a UAA record and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 17:22.20. Freshman Andrea Fischione (Export, PA) finished third in the 10,000-meter run and juniors Elizabeth Ehrke (Pewaukee, WI) and Margaret Brennesho (Pleasantville, NY ) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the hammer throw. Ehrke had a throw of 41.15 meters and Brennesho threw it 40.27.
Ehrke also finished second in the hammer throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 43.98 meters. The Spartan women finished fifth [out of seven] with a score of 62 points. Washington University won the women’s title with a score of 259.
