CLEVELAND, OH (March 22, 2008) - The Case Western Reserve University women’s track and field team was in Orlando, Fla. Thursday through Saturday for the Walt Disney World Track & Field Invitational.
Case Western Reserve senior Esther Erb (Richmond, VA-pictured) wasted no time qualifying for her ninth NCAA championship as Erb won the 10,000-meter run in a career-best/automatic qualify time of 35:45.91. The Spartans actually took the to three spots in the 10,000-meter with freshman Andrea Fischione (Export, PA) and sophomore Leanne Austin (Louisville, OH) finishing second (38:04.57) and third (41:24.68), respectively.
Erb also won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:49.79 and junior Elizabeth Ehrke (Pewaukee, WI) placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.34 meters.
Case Western Reserve will return south next weekend when it participates in the Emory University Classic March 28-29.
