CASE 5, OTTERBEIN 4...

CLEVELAND, OH (April 17, 2008) – The Case Western Reserve softball team came back from a first-inning 4-0 deficit to defeat Otterbein College 5-4 in the first game of today’s doubleheader.
Spartan batters had seven hits in the game, led by freshman shortstop Beth Andrasik (Sagamore Hills, OH-pictured), who went 2-for-2 with a double, a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored. Andrasik’s leadoff single and subsequent stolen base sparked a three-run Case second. Senior center fielder Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Freshman left fielder Teddi Jacobson (Solon, OH) went 1-for-3 with a leadoff triple in the third inning that led to Case’s fifth and winning run.
Freshman pitcher Alexis Ferrera (Steubenville, OH) notched the win in relief, bringing her record to 3-0. She pitched six and one-third shutout innings, giving up only three hits and no walks, while striking out two.
