BALDWIN WALLACE 10, CASE 7...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 16, 2008) – In a game packed with scoring, Case Western Reserve out-hit Baldwin-Wallace College twelve to ten, but several errors and passed balls led to five unearned runs as Baldwin Wallace got the win 10-7.
Baldwin-Wallace scored seven runs in the first two innings to take a 7-2 lead. In the third, freshman pitcher Teddi Jacobson‘s (Solon, OH-pictured) three-run home run brought the Spartans to within two. The Yellow Jackets then scored three runs over the next two innings to extend the lead beyond reach. Jacobson finished the game 2-for-3. Other Spartans with at least two hits were sophomore left fielder Katie Svilar (Orange Village, OH), who went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored, freshman first baseman Anneliese Fetterman (Cupertino, CA), who went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, and freshman shortstop Beth Andrasik (Sagamore Hills, OH), who went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored.
Jacobson was the starting pitcher and was charged with the loss (2-9), giving four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in one inning. Freshman Alexis Ferrera (Steubenville, OH) and junior Ruthe Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) each pitched three innings in relief, with Ferrera giving up six runs (two earned) and Sagartz giving up no runs.
The Spartans (10-20) will host Otterbein College tomorrow for a 3:30 doubleheader.
