CASE 7, BALDWIN WALLACE 5...

CLEVELAND, OH (April 16, 2008) – The Case Western Reserve softball team had a six-run second inning en route to a 7-5 win over Baldwin-Wallace College in the first game of a doubleheader.
The six-run second was highlighted by a one-out grand slam home run by senior center fielder Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH-pictured). The other two runs in the inning scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Lauren Hartman (Aurora, OH) and on an error. Seeds finished the game 1-for-4. Three other Spartan batters had at least two hits: senior right fielder Adriane Lewandowski (North Royalton, OH) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, sophomore catcher Chelsae Poelking (Brecksville, OH) went 3-for-4 with a double, and freshman first baseman Anneliese Fetterman (Cupertino, CA) went 2-for-3 with a walk.
Junior pitcher Ruthe Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) pitched a complete game to notch the victory (6-11), giving up five runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks, striking out nine.
