DENISON 8, CASE 6...

CLEVELAND, OH (April 8, 2008) – Case Western Reserve University jumped out to an early 3-0 lead two innings, but Denison University used a six-run fourth inning to top the Spartans 8-6 today in game two of a non-conference doubleheader in Granville, OH.
Senior center fielder Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) led the Spartan offense, going three-for-four with two runs scored. Sophomore third baseman/catcher Chelsae Poelking (Brecksville, OH-pictured) went one-for-two with two runs scored.
After two unearned runs in the top of the fourth and a scoreless fifth, Case Western Reserve trailed 7-5 going into the sixth. Both teams scored a run in the sixth and the Big Red held the Spartans in the top of the seventh.
Case Western Reserve, who fell to 9-17 on the season, host Westminster College Friday at Case Field at 3:30 p.m. (doubleheader).
