CASE 2, EMORY 1...

CLEVELAND, OH (March 15, 2008) – Case Western Reserve University scored a run in the top of the sixth inning and held Emory University scoreless in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to win its first University Athletic Association game at the 2008 UAA Softball Championship in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The Spartans topped the Eagles 2-1.
Case Western Reserve’s Ruthe Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM-pictured) pitched a complete game, allowinig just three hits while striking out seven. Freshman infielder Beth Andrasik (Solon, OH) led the offensive attack for the Spartans, going two-for-three with an RBI.
Case Western Reserve finished 1-7 at the UAA Championship and are 7-9 overall. They return home and are scheduled to play at Lake Erie College on March 19.
