CLEVELAND, OH (March 11, 2008) – The University of Rochester’s Beth Ameno pitched a one-hitter to hand Case Western Reserve University its second loss in day one of the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship. The Yellowjackets defeated the Spartans 2-0 and Case Western Reserve lost 3-1 to Brandeis University earlier.
Case Western Reserve (6-4, 0-2 UAA) will face Washington University tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
Rochester scored a run in the top of the first and sixth and had seven hits on the day. Spartan freshman pitcher Teddi Jacobson (Solon, OH) picked-up the loss, striking out four batters in seven innings of work. Senior outfielder Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH-pictured) accounted for Case Western Reserve’s hit.
