CASE 13, WESTMINSTER 4...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 13, 2007) – Case Western Reserve University (12-12) avenged a game one loss to Westminster College (13-9) in doubleheader action today in Pennsylvania with 12 hits and a 13-4 victory in game two.
After Westminster went up 2-1 in the top of second, Case answered with six runs on six hits in the bottom of the inning and never looked back. Sophomore pitcher Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM-pictured) went the distance on the mound for the Spartans. Sagartz struck out three and allowed four hits in five innings of work.
Freshman infielder Chelsea Poelking (Brecksville, OH) and freshman outfielder Katie Svilar (Orange Village, OH) led Case at the plate. Poelking went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Svilar 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Spartans travel to Allegheny College on April 17 for a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.
