CLEVELAND, OH (March 17, 2007) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team erupted for 11 runs in the first inning of its final game at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Tournament in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The Spartans topped Brandeis University 12-3 to finish 2-6 at the tournament and 4-6 overall down south. The Spartans travel to Bluffton College on Tuesday for a double header at 3:30 p.m.
Junior infielder Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) went three-for-four with two runs scored and one RBI and junior designated hitter Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) went two-for-three with two runs scored, two RBIs and a homerun to lead Case. Sophomore pitcher Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM-pictured) allowed just four hits, struck of six and walked only two batters to win her second game of the season.
