CLEVELAND, OH (March 16, 2007) – The Sagartz sisters faced off this afternoon in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Washington University senior pitcher Laurel Sagartz shut out Case Western Reserve University 5-0 at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Tournament.
The eldest Sagartz, allowed just three hits and struck out ten Spartans. Case sophomore Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) picked up the loss, allowing nine hits while striking out five.
Spartan sophomore shortstop Angel Rice (Brunswick, OH-pictured) went one-for-two from the plate. Case faces the University of Rochester at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and Brandeis University at 12:30 p.m.
