CASE 4, WASHINGTON 3...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 14, 2007) –Case registered a 4-3 victory over defending champion and nationally ranked (4th) Washington University at the UAA Championship Tournament.
The Spartans had a 4-0 lead after five innings before Washington scored its first run of the game in the sixth inning. The Bears pulled to within a run in the seventh on a two-run single from freshman Ashton Hitchcock. Case retired two of the next four batters to end the Washington rally.
Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH- pictured) and Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) both had two hits and scored two runs for the Spartans. Driving in those runs were Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) and Angel Rice (Brunswick, OH). Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) was the winning pitcher, striking out three and only giving up three runs.
The Spartans will be back in action tomorrow against Brandies University.
