CLEVELAND, OH (May 1, 2006) – Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) - pictured pitched a six-inning no-hitter, the first of her collegiate career, as the Case Western Reserve University softball finished its season with a victory against Oberlin by a score of 8-0.
The Spartan hitting machine was led by sophomore Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH ), who went 3-for-4 with a double, her fifth home run of the season, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Sagartz helped her cause by going 2-for-4 with a double and her first collegiate RBI. Senior Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV) went 1-for-2 with an RBI, senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) went 1-for-2 with a walk, and junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
Sagartz gave up just a walk in her six innings of work, while striking out eight to give her a season strikeout total of 151.
Case ends the season 22-24-1, their best record since the 2001-02 season. Box
