CASE 3, THOMAS MORE 1...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 29, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team grabbed the second game of a doubleheader against Thomas More College by a score of 3-1.
Case scored all of their runs in the fifth inning, two of them when sophomore Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) - pictured planted a two-run home run over the left field fence. Earlier in the inning, senior Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV) singled in senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) with a single. Hammell finished the game 2-for-2 with two singles and a stolen base, and Seeds went 1-for-3 with the homer and two RBIs. Junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) and sophomore Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) each went 1-for-3 with a double.
Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) pitched the complete game, giving up one earned run on three hits and one walk, striking out five.
Case (18-24-1) will travel to Hiram College tomorrow for a 1:00 PM doubleheader.
