ALLIANCE, OH (April 24, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team mustered only one hit and a walk as they lost to Mount Union College 8-0 in five innings in the first game of a doubleheader.
Junior Courtney Geib (Denver, CO) - pictured singled in the second inning for Case's only hit, and junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) walked in the fourth for the Spartans' only other baserunner. The Mount Union infielders were busy, though, as Case batters grounded out to the shortstop five times, the second baseman three times, and the third baseman twice.
Sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) was the pitcher for the Spartans, pitching five innings and giving up eight runs (five earned) on eleven hits and three walks while striking out three.
