GRANVILLE, OH (April 13, 2006) – Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) - pictured pitched a four-hit complete game shutout, her third of the season, as the Case Western Reserve University softball team salvaged a split of the doubleheader against Denison University.
The only run of the game scored in the Case third inning, when a misplayed fly ball scored a run. Junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) reached base all three times at the plate, going 1-for-1 with two walks. Senior Kristin Courtney went 1-for-3, and freshman Angel Rice (Brunswick, OH) went 0-for-4, but reached on a fielder’s choice and scored the Case run.
Sagartz, along with only allowing four hits, also did not walk a batter and struck out five.
Case will host Notre Dame College on Tuesday April 18 at 3:30.
