CASE 5, BETHANY 4...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 6, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a 5-4 come-from-behind victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Bethany College.
The Spartans did not get a hit until the fifth inning, and only had three before the fateful seventh. In the seventh, Case strung together five hits and a walk to rally back, highlighted by an RBI single by senior Amber Hammell - pictured (Parkersburg, WV), a 2-run double by sophomore Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH), and a 2-run single by freshman Angel Rice (Brunswick, OH). Hammell finished 2-for-3, Seeds was 1-for-4, and Rice was 2-for-4. Also, sophomore Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) went 2-for-3 with a double.
Sophomore pitcher Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) went the complete game, giving up four earned runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out four.
