ALLEGHENY 5, CASE 0...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 1, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team was shut out 5-0 in the second game of a doubleheader against Allegheny College. All five runs for Allegheny were unearned due to two Case errors and one passed ball.
Spartan hitters only managed two hits in the game, a fourth-inning double by sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) and a fifth-inning single by senior Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV). Bell went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, Hammell went 1-for-3, and sophomore Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) went 0-for-2 with a walk.
Freshman Ruth Sagartz - pictured (Albuquerque, NM) pitched the complete game, giving up five unearned runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
Case hosts Westminster College tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
