CASE 2, ALLEGHENY 1...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 1, 2006) – Case Western Reserve sophomore Adriane Lewandowski - pictured (North Royalton, OH) made a running snow cone catch in deep right field to record the final out as the Spartans beat Allegheny College in the first game of a doubleheader 2-1. Case improved to 7-12-1 with the win while the Gators dropped to 6-13.
Allegheny's only run came in the first inning on an error, a walk, and a single to center field. The Spartans answered quickly with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) hit a single that drove in junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) from second. The two teams then traded zeroes until the bottom of the sixth, when Bullen scored after senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) reached and the ball went past the first baseman. Bullen ended up 2-for-3 for the game and Casden went 1-for-2.
Sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) pitched the complete game, giving up one unearned run on seven hits and two walks, striking out five.
