OTTERBEIN 7, CASE 4...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 29, 2006) – In the second game of a doubleheader, the Case Western Reserve University softball team fell to Otterbein College 7-4. With the sweep of the doubleheader, Otterbein evens their record to 7-7 on the year while the Spartans fell to 6-12-1 overall.
Case actually out-hit Otterbein eight hits to seven, but four passed balls and four errors by Spartan fielders contributed to five unearned runs for the Cardinals.
Junior Carrie Casden - pictured (Worthington, OH) drove in all four runs for the Spartans, going 3-for-3 with three doubles and a sacrifice fly. Five others each had one hit, including sophomores Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) and Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH), who each hit doubles.
Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) started on the mound for the Spartans and went seven innings, giving up seven runs (two earned) on seven hits and six walks, while striking out five.
Case will next host Allegheny College in a pair of games on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.
