LAKE ERIE 5, CASE 3...
PAINESVILLE, OH (March 23, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team outhit Lake Erie College eight to seven in the first game of a doubleheader, yet lost 5-3.
The main culprit was Lake Erie third baseman Brittney Binko, who hit two home runs and drove in four, including a three-run homer during a four-run third inning for Lake Erie.
Case’s run-scoring came in the third inning on a string of singles and in the sixth inning on a couple of errors. The Spartans left a total of eight runners on base for the game. Senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) - pictured went 2-for-3 with an RBI and sophomore Adriane Lewandowski (North Royalton, OH) went 2-for-4.
Case sophomore pitcher Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) went the whole game and pitched six innings, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three.
