BRANDEIS 7, CASE 1...
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL (March 17, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team (4-7, 0-7 UAA) lost to Brandeis University by a score of 7-1 today at the University Athletic Association Championships in Florida.
The only two Spartan hits of the game came in the second inning. Sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) led off with a double. After a sacrifice bunt, senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) - pictured drove Bell in with a single.
Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) started the game and pitched three innings, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out four. Bell relieved and pitched three innings, giving up no runs on one hit and one walk. She struck out two.
The Spartans take on Washington University in the finale of the UAA Championships tomorrow.
