SPARTAN SOFTBALL—2006

It was a sibling matchup as Case freshman pitcher Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) - pictured faced a team that included her sister, Laurel. Ruth held her older sister to a groundout, a sacrifice bunt, and a strikeout in three plate appearances. For the game, she pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits and four walks while striking out six.

Meanwhile, Washington pitcher Kaylyn Eash held the Spartans to only two hits in five innings. The two hits were a single by junior Carrie Casden (Worthington, OH) in the first and a single by Sagartz in the second.

The Spartans, who drop to 4-4 and 0-4 in the UAA, play Emory University tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. as the UAA championships continue.
