ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL (March 15, 2006) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team committed four errors, one wild pitch, and two passed balls, leading to four unearned runs, as they lost in the third game of the University Athletic Association Championships to Brandeis University, 6-2.
The hitting star for the game for Case was sophomore Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) - pictured, who went three for four with a double and a stolen base. On the mound, sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) started the game and pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out one. Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) relieved Bell and pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs (none earned) on two hits and one walk, while striking out two.
Case, who falls to 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the UAA, will play Washington University in game two today this afternoon.
