ROCHESTER 3, CASE 0 ...
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL (March 14, 2006) – In the second game of the University Athletic Association Tournament, the Case Western Reserve softball team lost to the University of Rochester 3-0. Rochester improved to 3-1 on the season, while Case suffered their second straight loss to fall to 4-2 overall.
While Spartan batters were held to only two hits, they made good contact, striking out only four times. Sophomore Amanda Bell - pictured (Carroll, OH) reached base in two out of three plate appearances, being hit by a pitch in the second inning and walking in the seventh. Junior Courtney Geib (Denver, CO) went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.
Freshman Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) pitched the complete game, going six innings and giving up three runs, all in the sixth inning. She gave up eight hits and walked three while striking out eight.
The Spartans will play Brandeis University and Washington University tomorrow.
