EMORY 8, CASE 0...
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL (March 14, 2006) – In the first game of the University Athletic Association Tournament, the Case Western Reserve softball team lost 8-0 to Emory University. Emory’s record improved to 14-3 while Case suffered their first defeat of the year to drop to 4-1 in the early going.
Case batters were held to five hits by two Emory pitchers. The Spartans best scoring chance came in the second inning, when senior Kristin Courtney (Dayton, OH) and sophomore Jen Bullen (Willoughby, OH) hit back-to-back singles with one out. Junior Carrie Casden - pictured (Worthington, OH) had a great game at the plate, going 1-1 with two walks.
Sophomore pitcher Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) pitched all seven innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on twelve hits, while striking out three and walking one.
Leading the way for Emory was Sarah Morse, who went 3-4 with two singles and a solo home run.
