COCOA BEACH , FL (March 12, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University sophomore Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) - pictured singled in sophomore Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) in the first inning for the game winner this afternoon in Florida. The Spartans defeated Ripon College in game two of a double-header 1-0.
Bell went 2-3 from the plate while freshman pitcher Ruth Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM) picked up her second collegiate shutout. Sagartz threw seven innings and allowed just six hits while striking out six as she improved to 2-0 on the year.
Case improves to 4-0 and will have a off day tomorrow before the begin the UAA Championships on Tuesday in Altamonte Springs, FL.
