JOHN CARROLL 2, CASE 1 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 15, 2005) – Case Western Reserve University managed only three hits as the fell in their home opener 2-1 to local John Carroll University Thursday at Tony Brush Field. The Spartans dropped to 6-23 on the year.
Case and John Carroll both scored a run in the second inning and that's where the game stood until the top of the eight when the Blue Streaks scored the game winner. Spartan freshman pitcher Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) pitched the entire game, allowing eight hits while striking out six.
Case freshman left fielder Rachelle Gunselman (Wadsworth, OH), freshman catcher Elisha Bierman (LaGrange, OH) and junior right fielder Shannon Armstrong (Oklahoma City, OK) all posted hits on the day.
