NEW WILMINGTON , PA (April 5, 2005) – Case Western Reserve University senior pitcher Jackie Rutherford (LaBelle, PA) threw a four-hitter against Westminster College in game one of a double header, but her counterpart only gave up three as the Spartans were defeated by the Titans 1-0.
Rutherford pitched all six innings and struck out five batters. The only run she allowed came in the third inning. Case shortstop sophomore Leah Shooks (Poughkeepsie, NY), freshman catcher Elisha Bierman (LaGrange, OH) and freshman designated hitter Kerry Hunsicker (Wadsworth, OH) had a hit apiece for Case.
With the loss the Spartans fell to 4-15 on the season.
