GRAND RAPIDS , MI (April 1, 2005) – Case Western Reserve University freshman catcher Elisha Beirman (LaGrange, OH) went three for three from the plate and freshman leftfielder Rachelle Gunselman (Wadsworth, OH) two for four as the Spartans were defeated by Calvin College 2-0 on the road.
Senior pitcher Jackie Rutherford (LaBelle, PA) picked up the loss. Rutherford threw all six innings giving up only six hits and striking out two. Calvin scored a run in both the bottom of the second and sixth to pick up the win. Their pitcher gave up five Spartan hits.
The Spartans fall to 3-13 on the season and face Wisconsin River Falls at Calvin in game two tonight.
