WASHINGTON 8, CASE 0 ...
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL (March 10, 2005) – In the opening game of the University Athletic Association Championship Tournament the Case Western Reserve University softball lost 9-0 to Washington University. The Bears used three different pitchers to no-hit the Spartans over seven innings. Washington remains undefeated at 8-0 overall while Case drops to 0-5 on the year.
Case senior pitcher Jackie Rutherford (LaBelle, PA) pitched all seven innings giving up 11 hits and nine runs (five earned). Case had six errors compared to only three for Washington .
Amanda Roberts led the Bears going 3-4 with two RBI. Case will return to action tomorrow when they take on Rochester in the morning and Emory in the afternoon.
