DELAWARE TECH 12, CASE 1...
COCOA BEACH , FL (March 8, 2005) – Case Western Reserve gave up 11 runs in the top of the first inning en route to dropping a 12-1 decision to Delaware Tech in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Freshman Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) started on the mound for Case and gave up six runs on four hits and two walks while recording just one out. Kerry Hunsicker (Wadsworth, OH) didn't have much better luck for Case as she yielded five runs (four earned) and six hits while pitching just 0.2 innings. Senior Jackie Rutherford (LaBelle, PA) pitched the rest of the game and let up just one run and four hits in four innings of work.
Elisha Bierman (LaGrange, OH) and Leah Shook (Poughkeepsie, NY) got two of Case's three hits on the day, both recording doubles. Shook led off the second inning with a double. Bierman came to the plate right behind Shook and doubled in Shook, the only Case run of the day. Delaware Tech pitcher Layton had quite a day giving up just one run on three hits while going 2-3 at the plate with a game-high three RBI's.
