PHILADELPHIA 4, CASE 1...
COCOA BEACH , FL (March 7, 2005) – The Case Western Reserve University softball team lost their 2005 season opener to Philadelphia University 4-1 in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Rachel Moore (Maple Heights, OH) had the only hit in the game for Case while Lauren Seeds (Pickerington, OH) scored the only Spartan run. Philadelphia allowed seven walks, but limited the scoring by giving up only the one hit. All five runs in the game were unearned with Case making the only two errors of the contest.
Case senior pitcher Jackie Rutherford (LaBelle, PA) started the game and pitched only one inning. Freshman Amanda Bell (Carroll, OH) relieved Rutherford and pitched well giving up just five hits and one unearned run.
