NEW CONCORD, OH (March 26, 2005) - The Case Western Reserve men's outdoor track and field team opened up the 2005 season at the Muskingum Invitational where the Spartans claimed a sixth place team finish.
Case's Aaron Tainter (Portland, OR) was the only individual first place finisher for the Spartans as he took the top spot in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:46.78. Right behind Tainter in second place in the steeplechase was fellow Spartan Jeff McManus (Columbus, OH) with a time of 10:19.96. Also claiming a second place for Case was Matt Aehle (Bethesda, MD) in the 10,000 meter run in a time of 37:07.
Also turning in quality performances for Case were Jeff Hannon (Sugarcreek, OH) with a fifth place spot in the 1,500 and Trevor Ilse (Orono, MI) with a fifth in the men's 110 meter hurdles. In the field events, sophomore Alex Drollinger (Lodi, OH) was the top Spartan with his third place spot in the men's discus with a toss of 131'-4".
Case will compete again next Saturday, April 2nd at the College of Wooster Invitational which will kick off at 11:00 a.m. in Wooster, Ohio.
