CHICAGO 5, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 26, 2008) – In game one of today's doubleheader at Nobby's Ballpark, the Case Western Reserve University baseball team fell 5-2 to the Maroons from the University of Chicago.
The Spartans will take on Washington University (Mo.) later today at 4:00 p.m.
With a 1-0 lead going into the top of the third, the Maroons would tack on four runs on four hits and capitalize on a Case Western Reserve error to take a 5-0 lead.
The Spartans would make it a 5-1 game in the bottom of the third, as freshman outfielder Zach Hall (Germantown, MD) would score on a Nathan Ginsberg wild pitch to pull his team closer.
The Spartans would cut Chicago 's lead to three in the bottom of the sixth, as senior infielder Kevin Haley (Kent, OH – pictured) hit a two-out RBI single that scored freshman catcher Steve Bills (Greensburg, PA) to make it a 5-2 game.
The Spartans would get a runner in scoring position and threaten in the bottom of the ninth, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Maroons took the victory, putting their record at 7-11 this spring.
