CASE BASEBALL—2008

Senior pitcher Kevin Haley (Kent, OH – pictured) went the distance for the Spartans, going nine innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, while striking out five Maroons to pick up the win.

The Spartans will play one more game this afternoon against the Bears from Washington University (Mo.).

Freshman catcher Steve Bills (Greensburg, PA) got the Spartans on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second, as his homerun to left field gave Case Western Reserve a 1-0 lead. The Spartans would tack on one more in the inning to take a 2-0 lead.

After Chicago put up two runs in the top of the third to tie the game, the Spartans would take back the lead, as double to left field by Bills would score freshman Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH), who singled earlier in the inning.

With his team ahead 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Haley would retire the Maroons in order for the victory, his fourth of the season.
