BALDWIN-WALLACE 8, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 22, 2008) – The Case Western Reserve University baseball team dropped a regional match-up this afternoon, as the Yellow Jackets from Baldwin-Wallace College came away with an 8-2 victory at Nobby's Ballpark.
The Spartans will go on the road to face John Carroll University tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
Down 4-0 in the bottom of the second, the Spartans cut Baldwin-Wallace's lead to 4-1 with back-to-back doubles by junior infielder Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH) and freshman outfielder Tim Coan (Solon, OH – pictured). The Spartans would tack on one more in the bottom of the fifth to pull within two runs.
The Yellow Jackets would extend their lead in the top of the sixth, as a three-run homer by Riley Kreisher made it a 7-2 game. An RBI single by Mike Briskey would all but seal the win in the top of the ninth, giving Baldwin-Wallace an 8-2 lead.
Coan finished the game 2-for-4 with one RBI, while freshman outfielder Zach Hall (Germantown, MD) finished 1-for-2 with two walks.
