WESTMINSTER 18, CASE 10...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 20, 2008) – In game two of this afternoon's doubleheader at Nobby's Ballpark, the Case Western Reserve University baseball team fell 18-10 to the Titans from Westminster College (Pa.).
The Spartans will play a doubleheader on Apr. 22 when they head to the corner of Carnegie and Ontario to take on the No. 9 ranked Fighting Scots from the College of Wooster at Progressive Field at 12:00 p.m. (PRINT TICKET FOR FREE ADMISSION!). The Spartans will then head back to Nobby's Ballpark for a 4:00 p.m. game against Baldwin-Wallace College.
After the Titans put up three runs in the top of the first, the Spartans made it a one run game, as a sac-fly to right by freshman catcher Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH – pictured) and an RBI single by freshman Steve Crilley (Glenshaw, PA) made it a 3-2 game.
After Westminster tacked on two runs in the top of the third to take a 5-2 lead, the Spartan offense exploded for five runs on six hits, giving Case Western Reserve a 7-5 advantage.
The Titans would come up big in the top of the fourth, as two Spartan errors coupled with four hits paved the way for a six run inning, giving Westminster an 11-7 lead. They would all but seal the win in the top of the sixth, as a seven run inning gave the Titans a 18-7 lead.
Mullins finished 1-for-2 in game two with one run and three RBI, while senior infielder Kevin Haley (Kent, OH) went 2-for-3 with two runs.
