THOMAS MORE 11, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 19, 2008) – In game one of a non-conference doubleheader at Nobby's Ballpark, the Case Western Reserve University baseball team fell 11-2 to the Saints from Thomas More College.
Pat Berndsen picked up the victory for the Saints, while freshman pitcher Simon Weaver (Bethesda, MD) took the loss for the Spartans.
The Spartan offense came alive in the bottom of the first, as an RBI double down the right-field line by freshman Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg , OH – pictured) put Case Western Reserve on the board. Freshman first baseman Cory Pecoraro (Strongsville, OH) would cut Thomas More's lead in half, as his sac-fly would score freshman third baseman Steve Crilley (Glenshaw, PA) from third, making it a 4-2 game.
The Saints would extend their lead an inning later, as a solo homer by Marc Price and a two-run homer by Johnny Lee gave Thomas More a 7-2 advantage. They would add four runs in the top of the third to take an 11-2 lead and all but seal the win.
