CASE 7, BETHANY 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 8, 2008) – Freshman catcher Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH – pictured) had a 4-for-4 day at the plate with two runs, as the Case Western Reserve University baseball registered a 7-2 win over Bethany College at Nobby's Ballpark in game two of today's doubleheader. Mullins finished 6-for-6 with four runs and two RBI in two games today, and in his last 26 at bats, he has 16 hits.
The Spartans will play a doubleheader at Hiram tomorrow. Game one will begin at 2:00 p.m.
After Bethany put up one run in the top of the second, the Spartans would respond in the bottom half of the inning, as a walk and three consecutive singles gave Case Western Reserve a 2-1 lead.
The Spartans would strike again in the bottom of the third, as a bloop-double to center by junior outfielder Kevin Carney (University Heights, OH) scored three runners, giving Case Western Reserve a 6-1 lead.
Freshman first baseman Cory Pecoraro (Strongsville, OH) went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
