WABASH 6, CASE 5...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 30, 2008) – The Case Western Reserve University wrapped up a four-game weekend in Crawfordsville, Ind. this afternoon, as they fell 6-5 to the Little Giants from Wabash College at Mud Hollow Field. Wabash got a walk-off two-run homer from Matt Dodaro in the bottom of the seventh to claim the win, putting their record at 13-9, while dropping the Spartans to 3-12 this spring.
Freshman pitcher Simon Weaver (Bethesda, MD) took the loss for the Spartans, while Keegan Leckrone picked up the win for the Little Giants.
With the score tied 3-3 after three innings, the Spartans tacked on two runs in the top of the fourth, as an RBI single by freshman catcher Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH – pictured) and an RBI double by freshman first baseman Cory Pecoraro (Strongsville, OH) gave Case Western Reserve a 5-3 lead. Mullins finished 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Wabash would answer in the bottom of the seventh, Dodaro's walk-off two-run homer sealed the victory for the Little Giants. Dodaro finished 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI, while Bobby Ritz finished 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Freshman outfielder Tim Coan (Solon, OH) finished 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while junior outfielder Kevin Carney (University Heights, OH) finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The Spartans will be in action again on Apr. 1 when they head to Berea to face the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin-Wallace College. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
