WABASH 3, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 29, 2008) – Two doubles in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled the Little Giants from Wabash College to a 3-2 victory over the Case Western Reserve University baseball team in extra innings this afternoon at Mud Hollow Field in Crawfordsville, Ind. The two teams will start game two of this afternoon's doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
Freshman pitcher Aron Kale (Northridge, CA) took the loss for the Spartans, his first of the season, while Keegan Leckrone claimed the victory for the Little Giants.
Already down 2-0 in the top of the third, the Spartans made it a one run game as back-to-back hits from freshmen Kevin Train (Mechanicsburg, PA – pictured) and Clay Hurley (Connellsville, PA) and a passed ball made it a 2-1 game. Train would single again and score on a Wabash balk to make it a 2-2 game. Train finished the game with two hits and two runs.
After the Spartans were held scoreless in the top of the ninth, the Little Giants would come back to win it in the bottom half of the inning, as two doubles by Matt Dodaro and David Seibel gave Wabash the victory. The loss puts the Spartans at 2-10 this spring, while the Little Giants move to 11-8 with the win.
