HEIDELBERG 7, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 27, 2008) – The Case Western Reserve University baseball team lost 7-2 today at Heidelberg College in non-conference game. The Spartans fall to 2-9 on the season and will travel to Wabash College this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders - Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Heidelberg (11-4) pitcher Everett Thomas held Case Western Reserve to just three hits and struck out 10 in eight innings of work, improving to 3-0 on the year. The Spartans went through four pitchers, with freshman Simon Weaver (Bethesda, MD) getting the loss. Weaver allowed five hits and four runs in four innings.
Case Western Reserve, who had six errors in the game, scored on an error in the top of first and on a passed ball in the ninth. Heidelberg put together three run innings in the first and sixth and scored a lone run in the fourth.
Freshman first baseman Cory Pecoraro (Strongsville, OH-pictured) went one-for-four with 13 putouts to lead the Spartans. Catcher Steve Decker led Heidelberg at the plate, going two-for-three with a run scored and an RBI.
