CLEVELAND, OH (April 28, 2007) –
Sophomore third baseman Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH-pictured) went 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team lost to the University of Chicago 13-1 in St. Louis.
The Spartans scored their only run on back-to-back hits by Faber and senior first baseman J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH). The other two Case hits were collected by senior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) and senior pitcher John Thuermer (Dublin, OH).
Thuermer was the starter and took the loss (3-4), giving up eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits and four walks, striking out none in two and a third innings pitched. Freshman Chip Dean (Lexington, VA) gave up five earned runs in four and two-thirds innings in relief.
