CLEVELAND, OH (April 24, 2007) –
The Case Western Reserve University baseball team lost to Notre Dame College 7-0 in the first game of a doubleheader in Euclid, Ohio.
The Spartans could only muster three hits against Notre Dame pitching. The only batter to reach twice was junior shortstop Kevin Haley (Kent, OH-pictured), who went 1-for-2 with a walk. Collecting the other two hits were sophomore catcher Kevin Carney (University Hts., OH) and freshman pitcher Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA), who each went 1-for-2.
Keefe was the starting pitcher and took the loss (0-5), giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and five walks, striking out one in four innings. Sophomore Chris Lambert (Canal Fulton, OH) pitched in relief, giving up three runs (one earned) in two innings.
