CLEVELAND, OH (April 22, 2007) – Senior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL-pictured) hit two triples and a double, driving in three runs and scoring three, as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team defeated John Carroll 11-9 in the second game of a doubleheader

Several players got multiple hits for the Spartans, including Hampton, who went 3-for-3 with two walks, senior center fielder David Adams (Middlelfield, OH), who went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, sophomore third baseman Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH), who went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and freshman designated hitter Chip Dean (Lexington, VA), who went 2-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, an RBI, and three runs scored. Eight of the nine starters for Case reached base at least once
Senior John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) pitched a complete game to get the win (3-3), giving up nine runs (eight earned) on eleven hits and no walks, striking out three in seven innings of work.
The Spartans (11-13) will next travel to Notre Dame College on Tuesday for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
